Last night, in Episode 1 of Runka Punka Go Go, I produced a dud. First time at the controls of the Rumble backend for live streaming and I screwed up my own sound. Opening night jitters. Not ready for prime time.
Here’s the episode and the link:

Reminds of when we started the 2Kevins with Grace & Steel podcast back in 2015. The first few episodes were messes. But we soldiered on and things got better.
The important lesson here is to just start.
I hope I have figured out the problem. I think it has to do with the microphone settings in Rumble and how I dealt with these after the conversion to Linux Ubuntu from Windows.
When selecting my mike in Rumble Studio for the live stream, I chose the Steinberg interface option rather than the “Default.” Unfortunately, the default is also a Steinberg setting, the correct one, whereas the one labeled “Steinberg” is actually the 5.1 surround setting. It says it right there, “Steinberg 5.1”. I don’t know what I was thinking. I don’t recall having the surround sound option in Windows. And now it dawns on me that the few times I appeared on The KMG Show, and my sound was fine, it was a complete fluke.
Perhaps I will in a separate post put up the notes that I used during last night’s show to explain things to Kevin Michael Grace; this might compensate for the low audio quality as a way of explaining “the pitch,” that is, what I intend to do here.
Reviewing the sound of the videos played through Rumble, I hear that I have to find a way to make these play and record properly in the context of the live stream. It’s almost as if some kind of noise suppression kicks in to dampen the playback.
